About Annette
|
|
Annette has been a familiar face to area theater goers due to
numerous appearances at The Second Space Theater and Roger Rocka's Music
Hall. It is an association which dates back to the early 80's.
Consequently, she brings a wealth of performance training and expertise
to her dancing. A fixture on the local dance scene, she has also
performed at various venues, festivals, and restaurants up and down
California and the Central Coast, as well as a guest appearance at The
Pyramids in Honolulu. She has performed live with The Brothers of the
Baladi, Mirage, and John Chookasian. From January of 2002 to October of
2012, she was the house dancer at The Mediterranean Restaurant in
Fresno, performing every Friday evening for nearly ten years.
Annette had studied ballet and jazz for a number of years before
embarking upon her Middle-Eastern dance instruction with Ely Buffin of
the Ananka Dance Company. She soon moved on to hone her skills in dance,
performance, and teaching dance through extensive training with Cory
Zamora. Annette teaches a beginning belly dance class through Clovis
Adult Education and offers intermediate and advanced classes, as well as
private instruction. For additional information on classes, please see
her website at
www.bellydncr.com or contact her via e-mail,
bellydncr@comcast.net.
Trained in the classic style of cabaret dance by Cory Zamora, Annette's
complete routines feature the variety and excitement of this style. She
also specializes in performing with a variety of traditional props: zils,
sword, cane, and tray with tea set or fire. For something a little
“edgier,” Annette also performs with a snake. Annette is honored to be a
part of the Zamora Family and sees each performance as an opportunity to
proliferate the ancient, beautiful, and pure art of traditional cabaret
style belly dance.
