About Ruth Ellen:

I tried something unique for P.E. at San Jose State, belly dancing! I won't say how many semesters ago that was, but it was such a blast.

About 4 years ago my body tried something unique, a stroke. I went to bed with a splitting headache and woke up with a leg that wasn't working "quite right" My doctor said to exercise, take my medicine or die hard decision. I decided to take my medicine, the exercise part was an issue. I don't know how to swim and most cats (Leos) don't like water. tennis? no! basketball? I don't think so. Jogging? only if I were being chased, what's left?

Well the answer was there on stage at Fresno Passport, Dancing. Belly Dancing! I remembered how difficult, challenging, uplifting, creative, soul releasing, satisfying and classical it was. What a workout!
I had attended several renaissance fairies and had seen dancers there. I wanted something more than the costume and the ability to shimmy. I called Cory Zamora.

I explained my new 'challenge' and my other little problem (dyslexia). She assured me there would be no problem. Cory geared the class to help me regain strength in my right leg, build up my stamina, and figure out how to isolate parts of my body which also helped (still is helping) me figure out my right from my left. Gosh I am having so much fun with every new step she teaches. Sometimes I still get the right, left thing confused, but don't confuse my smile with anything other than JOY because now I can dance again.

Much joy and love
Ruth E.
